An Agent Reacts: Kait Feldmann

Literary Agent and former Big 5 editor, Kait Feldmann, joins us to give her authentic reactions to 5 picture book manuscripts. Even if you plan to self-publish - this is a great opportunity to get expert eyes on your story. About Kait: Kait Lee Feldmann is a children’s book agent at kt literary representing illustrators. She has been romping around children’s book publishing for the past decade, previously as an editor at HarperCollins and Scholastic. Her list as editor included award-winning books that received a Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, and Sibert Honor; the Ezra Jack Keats Award; and appearances on Best of lists for The New York Times, NPR, Kirkus, and more. In 2020 she received the CBC Diversity Outstanding Achievement Award. Kait resides in a hoarder’s paradise in Los Angeles, surrounded by books. When she’s not reading those, she can often be found playing board games, estate sale hopping, or crafting and selling her wares in a sporadically stocked Etsy shop. By registering, you are eligible to submit ONE picture book manuscript (under 1000 words) to be considered for the webinar! At Home Author will select 5 manuscripts from all those submitted for Kait to review. Selections will be based on quality of the writing, but we'll also try to include a variety of manuscripts: rhyme, prose, fiction, non-fiction, etc. Please email your story to hello@athomeauthor.com as an attached Word or Google document. (12 pt. Times New Roman, double-spaced) by AUGUST 19th at 11pm CST. Please remember that by submitting your story you give us permission to share it during the webinar. It will be shown on the screen and also read out loud to all attendees. We know sharing your work can be scary! But we're all authors on the same journey, and this is a great opportunity to get honest feedback from a pro! We will not be notifying authors ahead of time if their story was chosen. You'll have to attend live or watch the recording to find out! ;) We can't wait to see what you create!
